Position Purpose

The General Manager, Operations (GMO) plays a pivotal role in shaping and managing the strategic direction of EPEC's operations business unit. Reporting directly to the Managing Director (MD), the GMO translates the MD’s vision into actionable outcomes by leading operational teams with a strong emphasis on the health, safety, and well-being of employees and site workers. The role is central to fostering operational excellence, enhancing process safety, enabling long-term planning, and overseeing project and contract management, as well as delivering specialist technical expertise.

As a key member of EPEC’S Senior Leadership Team, the GMO is a proven leader with a track record of driving improvements in process safety, productivity, and financial performance. The role demands a deep understanding of risk management principles and the ability to apply them practically. The GMO ensures operational alignment across teams, role clarity, and facilitates change in dynamic environments. Collaboration across the business is essential to secure the resources and support needed to achieve strategic objectives.

The GMO is instrumental in ensuring the operations business unit is commercially optimised to deliver efficiency and reliability in the short term, while safeguarding long-term value and sustainability. With strong commercial acumen, the GMO builds influential, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results that align with EPEC’s overall strategic goals.

Experience, Qualifications and Key Selection Criteria

  • As the General Manager, Operations, you will be responsible and expected to fulfil such:

  • • Degree level qualifications in a relevant discipline including engineering, business or economics.

    • Proven knowledge and experience (10+ years) in leading Engineering Consulting business in the electrical industry.

    • Demonstrate actions and behaviours that consistently uphold and reflect the company’s values, ethics and culture.

    • Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.

    • Degree level qualifications in a relevant discipline including engineering, business or economics.

    • Proven knowledge and experience (10+ years) in leading and growing an operations function in the electrical

    industry.

    • Demonstrate actions and behaviours that consistently uphold and reflect the company’s values, ethics and culture.

    • Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.

    • Proven success in a key senior leadership role in the energy or other asset intensive industry.

    • Demonstrated experience in operations or project management.

    • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change and implement process improvement.

    • An unwavering passion for high safety standard

  • • Post-graduate qualifications would be advantageous.

  • • Travel is a key component of this Senior Position, with

    approximately 20% of time spent travelling to various

    locations as required, to support business needs.

    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under

    pressure to meet deadlines.

    • Willingness to learn and stay updated on industry best

    practices.

    • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
