General Manager Procurement

About the Role

Reporting to a C-suite Executive , the General Manager Procurement is a key leadership role enabling the organisation’s strategic roadmap . 

The role leads the Procurement Group to deliver best practice procurement management through: 

  • Overseeing enterprise procurement projects 

  • Driving commercial value from partnerships 

  • Implementing governance frameworks and tools 

  • Cultivating a collaborative, high-performance team culture 

Key Responsibilities

Customer Focus 

  • Champion key strategic initiatives in alignment with timeframes, budgets, and business benefits 

  • Ensure BAU outcomes meet service and risk expectations 

  • Provide insights and recommendations to governance forums 

Governance 

  • Establish governance and policy frameworks 

  • Advise executive team on strategic and operational matters 

  • Report on all procurement activities to executive team and the Board 

Commercial Outcomes 

  • Develop end-to-end procurement strategies 

  • Conduct spend analysis and identify innovation opportunities 

  • Lead supplier selection, RFP processes, and contract negotiations 

  • Implement contract management frameworks 

Leadership & Management 

  • Collaborate across the organisation to promote vision and culture 

  • Align resourcing to strategic priorities 

  • Model values and champion performance culture 

  • Advise Board and executives on trends and risks 

  • Build and coach a high-performing team 

  • Contribute to succession and talent strategies 

  • Drive innovation and reporting frameworks 

  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships 

  • Oversee risk identification, mitigation, and compliance 

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role represents the business internally and externally. 

To succeed in this role you will need developed expertise and judgement, including the ability to: 

  • Navigate multi-stakeholder priorities 

  • Align team capabilities to strategy 

  • Translate strategy into operations 

  • Apply past experience to anticipate future developments 

  • Use commercial acumen and data to support decision-making 

  • Manage complexity and sustain business performance 

You will bring: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in business or similar; postgraduate qualifications desirable 

  • Experience in procurement leadership within a regulated policy environment 

  • Financial services knowledge and awareness of broader environmental influences 

  • Proven track record in supplier and contract management 

  • Strategic planning and financial modelling experience 

  • Leadership of large, multi-level teams 

  • Delivery of projects and change initiatives 

  • Engagement with executive stakeholders and boards 

  • Deep knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract management, and negotiation
