This is Ipswich Grammar School.

The oldest grammar school in Queensland and a Prep to Year 12 independent day and boarding school. Our boys live and breathe our motto – Labore Et Honore – to work hard with honour. The Board of Trustees

The strategic direction of the School is governed by the Board of Trustees, a group of professionals from a wide variety of fields. Council members generously volunteer their time, knowledge and expertise to support and guide the School.

The Board of Trustees consists of seven members appointed by the Governor in Council by notification published in the gazette, for a term of four years, of whom:

  • Four are persons nominated by the Minister for Education, Training and Employment

  • Three are persons elected as prescribed by the Act (ie: donated or subscribed to the school at least the electoral eligibility amount)

Head of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT)

The Head of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Services at Ipswich Grammar School is responsible for developing and executing a strategic vision for all ICT services, infrastructure, and support. This role leads the ICT department, including library and print centre oversight, to ensure seamless integration of technology aligned with the school’s educational goals and strategic objectives. 

 

Key Accountabilities

As the Head of ICT Services, your key accountabilities include:

Strategic ICT Leadership

  • Develop and implement the school’s ICT strategy, aligning technology initiatives with Ipswich Grammar School’s mission and objectives.

  • Provide vision and leadership for implementing innovative technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations. 

  • Stay informed of emerging technology trends in education, recommending appropriate adoption within the school. 

Cyber Security and Risk Management 

  • Oversee all cybersecurity measures, ensuring robust systems are in place to protect school data and user information. 

  • Implement risk assessment practices to regularly evaluate and mitigate potential ICT risks. 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant cybersecurity standards and best practices. 

ICT Infrastructure and Systems Management 

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of reliable and secure ICT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and data storage solutions. 

  • Manage the installation, implementation, and maintenance of hardware, software, and applications essential for school operations.

  • Develop and maintain reports primarily through PowerBI in accordance with a software development request procedure.

ICT Support and Training

  • Lead the ICT support team, ensuring high levels of customer service for all technical issues impacting staff, students, and school operations.

  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff proficiency with educational and administrative technology tools.

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate technology effectively into the curriculum.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage the annual ICT budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.

  • Maintain a rolling 5-year ICT asset management plan, aligned with the school’s strategic goals.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage contracts with ICT vendors and service providers.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for grants or funding to support technology initiatives.

Data and Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including data protection and privacy standards.

  • Oversee data management practices, including backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness.

Team Leadership and Development 

  • Build and lead a skilled ICT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. 

  • Liaise with various stakeholders throughout the school to ensure their ICT needs are met. 

  • Undertake project work as directed by management. 

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and support professional development for ICT staff. 

  • Oversee implementation of systems where appropriate, and provide post go-live support. 

 

What We Are Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications preferred. 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in ICT management, preferably within an educational environment. 

Technical Skills: Expertise in network management, cybersecurity, systems integration, and educational technology tools. 

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills. 

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively. 

Problem-Solving: Proactive problem-solving abilities with a strategic approach to ICT planning and implementation. 

Ipswich Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the students in our care. As such, it is a condition of employment that all staff members, unless otherwise eligible for an exemption, must possess a current Positive Notice or “Blue Card” issued under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 before commencing employment with the School. Volunteer Blue Cards will be required to be transferred to Paid Employment cards.
