Chief Information Officer
Position Objective
The CIO is responsible for setting the strategic direction and ensuring the effective delivery of all information and technology (I&T) services across RSPCA Queensland. This role will drive digital transformation, strengthen cybersecurity, enable data-driven decision-making and ensure the organisation’s technology capability effectively supports its mission to prevent cruelty to animals.
The CIO is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to align technology strategy with organisational priorities, ensure operational excellence and build future-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Innovation
Provide strategic direction for RSPCA Queensland’s IT capabilities, aligning technology initiatives with organisational goals. Drive innovation and change management to deliver long-term digital transformation and operational excellence.
Operational Oversight and Governance
Lead IT operations, ensuring system reliability, cost-efficiency and compliance with legal and industry standards. Manage vendor contracts, budget allocation and service-level agreements to support business needs.
Cybersecurity, Risk and Compliance
Ensure robust cybersecurity frameworks, data privacy and risk management practices are in place. Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning aligned with evolving threats and compliance requirements.
Project and Program Management
Lead enterprise-wide IT projects from planning through execution, ensuring scope, timelines and resources are effectively managed. Integrate technology systems to improve customer service and organisational impact.
People Leadership and Capability Development
Foster a high-performing IT team culture, nurturing growth and capability development. Empower staff across the organisation by enhancing digital literacy and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
Data Strategy and Analytics Enablement
Develop and advance data strategy to support evidence-based decision-making. Promote effective data governance, analysis and insight generation across the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or related field.
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, COBIT, PMP or cybersecurity certifications are highly desirable.
Proven experience in senior IT leadership, preferably in purpose-driven or complex multi-site environments.
Demonstrated success in delivering IT strategies, digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity, data governance and legal compliance in IT operations.
Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement and team development capabilities.
