Role Purpose
Deputy Director-General, Corporate, Performance & Delivery
As Deputy Director-General of Corporate, Performance and Delivery, you will work with the Director-General and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that DETSI’s strategic vision is coordinated across the Department and commitments are delivered. This includes Government election commitments and Ministerial Charter Letter commitments.
At the heart of this role is working with the Senior Leadership team to build a high performing team, with a strong culture that is aligned to DETSI’s key values.
As Deputy Director-General you will also be responsible for overseeing the DETSI’s strategic vision, direction and leadership of the Corporate, Performance and Delivery division to ensure best practice and contemporary standards are in place for the delivery of financial, people and culture, performance management, governance (including risk and disaster management), internal audit, communications and public engagement, and digital services across the department. The division is currently comprised of six operational branches and a small divisional directorate.

You will oversee a divisional budget of $81M and approximately 250 FTE. Along with the Director-General and the Executive Leadership Team you have oversight responsibilities for an agency with over 3,100 FTE’s and annual budget of $1.4B. As part of these responsibilities, you will support the Director-General in monitoring strategic delivery requirements and managing budget allocation.
The Role
As the Deputy Director-General, Corporate, Performance and Delivery, you will:
Work with the Executive Leadership team to deliver the DETSI strategic plan and ensure all Government election commitments and Minister Charter Letter commitments are coordinated across the Department for delivery.
Work with the Executive Leadership team to develop and deliver the People and Culture Strategy to ensure a high performing team across DETSI aligned to the values and expectations of the department and public sector.
Provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination of the department’s corporate services to enable the department to meet its strategic objectives in alignment with Government priorities.
Provide expert advice to the Minister, Director-General, the Executive Leadership Team, and other Senior Executives to achieve improved service delivery outcomes and enable accountable and transparent corporate governance and decision-making.
Ensure that contemporary and best practice policies, programs and systems are delivered to the required standard, on time and on budget.
Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders and partners to ensure productive outcomes are achieved and partners value the experience of working with the department.
Ensure compliance with corporate service statutory and government policy requirements to deliver flexible, responsive, and cost-effective services that align with the government’s priorities.
Play a key role in sustaining a unified and effective DETSI Executive Leadership Team and be an example of collaboration across the department and government.
Represent the interests of the Minister and Director-General in complex and sensitive negotiations and consultations. In doing so, you are expected to be influential, respectful, and credible in your engagement with key agency partners.
Make a significant contribution to building the department’s brand, reputation and impact.
Identify and manage risks and maximise opportunities associated with the department’s operations and projects.
Set a clear vision, priorities and performance expectations for the division, ensuring efficient and effective Corporate Services are delivered.
Model the values of the Queensland Public Service and be an example of accountability and integrity.
Build an inclusive and diverse division, mentor aspiring leaders across the agency, and create a culture that can attract and retain the best talent.
Engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Minister’s office and media, and build effective partnerships with the Business and Corporate Partnership agencies to ensure services are relevant, interchangeable, and meeting each agency’s priorities.
