work with industry and our partners to find and progress solutions
administer legislation.

We also enforce laws relating to:

biosecurity, including pest and disease management
sustainable fisheries and forestry management
animal welfare standards
food safety in primary production
agricultural and veterinary chemical use.

About the role

As our Deputy Director-General Regional Delivery and Regulatory Services, you will provide executive operational leadership in the delivery of all regional and regulatory services and activities across the primary industries sector. Specifically you will:

Lead and provide strategic direction to the Regional Delivery and Regulatory Services Group, a multidisciplinary group incorporating agriculture, fisheries, forestry and biosecurity, ensuring alignment with departmental and government priorities at a regional level.
Deliver high quality advice and analysis, information and guidance to the Director-General and Minister on policies, initiatives, opportunities and developments that support the growth of Queensland’s regions and primary industry sectors.
Represent the Government, Department and Director-General in a range of forums, committees and focus groups that require a content-specific perspective and ensure that the interests of the regions and regulatory sectors and the department are represented.
Lead the implementation of regulatory frameworks across primary industries sectors ensuring compliance with local and regional biosecurity obligations.
Champion regional development and economic growth, and industry initiatives strengthening government-industry-community connections.
Translate government priorities into operational strategies and plans and oversee consistent performance across regional teams.
Lead the delivery of the Prosper 2050 regional plans and other strategies, plans and programs to drive regional based opportunities.
Lead digital transformation, continuous improvement and customer experience initiatives in service delivery.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the senior executives and key staff in the department, other government agencies.
Build and sustain effective relationships with regional communities, industry groups, local governments and peak bodies
Contribute to the department’s leadership and governance as a senior member of the department’s leadership board.
Champion and support change within your business group and demonstrate change leadership.

You will be accountable for an operational budget of $73 million and require a procurement authority up to $3,000,000.

You may also have

· Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable
