About Us
Invest Gold Coast Pty Ltd is an investment and economic development organisation newly established by the City of Gold Coast to facilitate growth and increase investment into the Gold Coast, Australia’s fastest growing city.
Invest Gold Coast was formerly an internal department of the City. It is now an independent entity with an expert board and dedicated team focused on expanding its reach and capabilities.
It is responsible for promoting our city to Australian and overseas investors, facilitating major new priority investment projects and attracting new businesses, providing independent, commercial advice to Council on investment opportunities, and continuing to support and strengthen our local business community including through export growth.
This new structure will enhance agility, transparency and connections to increase investment into the Gold Coast, grow our economic base and maximise returns for ratepayers.
Invest Gold Coast is a sister company to the City’s other controlled entities: Experience Gold Coast and Brand Gold Coast. All activities and functions of these entities are audited through Council’s existing processes as well as the Queensland Audit Office.

About the Role
Senior Corporate Treasury Manager
This role operates in a matrix reporting structure with dotted line into the CFO of City of Gold Coast but a primary accountability reporting to the GM, Corporate Services within the Invest Gold Coast.
The Senior Corporate Treasury Manager leads the daily operations of the Treasury department within the City of Gold Coast (the City). This role is responsible for managing the company’s financial risk, overseeing liquidity and cash positioning, managing banking relationships, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The Senior Corporate Treasury Manager will be a strategic thinker capable of optimising capital structures and mitigating exposure to currency and interest rate fluctuations.
While the intention is for this position to be on-going, the inital contract will be offered under a 2 year fixed term arrangement.
Key Accountabilities
Cash & Liquidity Management
Direct cash positioning and forecasting to ensure the company meets its financial obligations.
Optimise the movement of funds between entities, including intercompany lending and dividends.
Administer Treasury Management Systems (TMS) and electronic banking platforms.
Financial Risk Management
Identify, quantify, and manage financial risks related to foreign exchange (FX), interest rates, and commodities.
Develop and execute hedging strategies using derivatives (swaps, forwards, options).
Monitor counterparty credit risk and ensure diversification of corporate deposits.
Capital Markets & Funding
Support the execution of debt financing, including credit facilities, commercial paper, and bond issuances.
Monitor covenant compliance for existing credit agreements and prepare required reporting.
Assist in the evaluation of capital allocation strategies (share buybacks, dividends, M&A funding).
Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for investment banks and credit rating agencies.
Negotiate bank fee structures and evaluate the performance of financial service providers.
Governance & Compliance
Maintain and update treasury policies (e.g., Investment Policy, Hedging Policy).
Ensure compliance with appropriate controls and Internal Audit requirements.
Oversee the reporting of treasury activities for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Key Result Areas
Forecast Accuracy: Minimise the variance between projected and actual cash flows.
Cost of Capital: Maintain or reduce the weighted average cost of debt through efficient financing.
Yield on Excess Cash: Optimise returns on short-term investments within the constraints of the Investment Policy.
Operational Efficiency: Automation of manual treasury processes and reduction in bank fees.
Mandatory Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics. MBA or post-graduate qualifications preferred.
Significant experience in corporate treasury, banking, or corporate finance.
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) highly preferred.
Advanced Excel (VBA/Modelling), Bloomberg, and experience with TMS (e.g. Kyriba, Reval, SAP Treasury).
Strong negotiation skills, executive presence, and the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
