About the Role
Executive Director, Strategic Precincts & Projects
What you can expect in this role
The Executive Director, Strategic Precincts and Projects is responsible for contributing to the delivery of significant social and community housing infrastructure development across Queensland. The role will oversee the delivery of large-scale social and affordable housing projects, precinct wide development and renewal, and complex acquisitions and development agreements, including in partnership with other government agencies, to contribute towards the Queensland Government’s 53,500 social and community housing target to be achieved by 2044. The role requires an experienced executive to oversee complex capital works programs and deliver significant economic and social outcomes. The role spans the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development, procurement and appointment of development partners and the successful delivery and operational commencement of large scale and precinct-wide development. The role requires high-level leadership and the provision of specialist advice while working collaboratively with executive management and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including across community housing providers, developers, and all levels of government. A key focus will be driving transformative housing initiatives, including projects like the Southport Supportive Housing Project, and precinct renewal across the State’s extensive property holdings, refreshing ageing public housing estates across Queensland. This position is instrumental in advancing social and community housing priorities, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and ensuring efficient and sustainable project delivery aligned with government objectives. The successful candidate would possess exemplary leadership behaviours, including demonstrated experience leading teams in the delivery of complex projects, ethical decision making and exceptional stakeholder skills conducive to creating environments of excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What you will be doing:
Leading the design and delivery of significant social housing and precinct renewal projects to meet time, cost, quality and scope outcomes, while delivering positive economic and social outcomes.
Providing high-level strategic, financial, commercial and policy advice and briefings to senior leadership and government stakeholders on program risks, opportunities, and policy issues that influence the department and whole-of-government outcomes.
Managing a hybrid workforce of employees, contractors, and technical advisors.
Shaping and implementing growth strategies to deliver complex capital projects and programs successfully through cross-agency and cross-sector collaboration, fostering innovation and efficiency.
Building and maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders across the public and private sectors, to facilitate delivery of planned project and program outcomes in accordance with timeframes and budgets; and deliver solutions that add value and manage risks, in a way that supports economic growth, job creation, and community infrastructure development.
Developing networks to facilitate delivery of planned project and program outcomes in accordance with timeframes and budgets; and deliver solutions that add value and manage risks.
Representing the department in complex and sensitive negotiations, consultations and forums to support and promote the delivery of social and affordable housing.
Leading business development and optimising resource management to ensure financial sustainability and efficient delivery of transformative housing capital projects and programs and housing initiatives that align with government priorities.
Collaborating across Departmental divisions to ensure effective workforce planning, project resourcing, and succession planning, enabling seamless service delivery and driving the long-term success of capital works programs.
Establishing and overseeing robust monitoring systems to track project performance, ensure accountability, and identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements in building and construction services.
Developing and implementing forward-thinking people management strategies and leadership initiatives to cultivate a high-performing, accountable, and innovative workforce aligned with departmental objectives.
Promoting employee wellbeing by fostering a supportive workplace culture that prioritises effective communication, training, workplace health and safety, and inclusivity, while adhering to departmental values and legislative requirements.

You will have:
a record of success as a leader in a large and complex organisation with an outstanding leadership ability
extensive experience in the leading the implementation of programs and initiatives delivering housing supply (or other infrastructure) to support the Government's strategic policy direction.
