About Us
MyState Limited (MYS) is the non-operating holding company of a diversified financial services group listed on the ASX and is a leading provider of banking, trustee and wealth management services to customers across the country through our retail brands - MyState Bank, Auswide Bank, TPT Wealth and SelfCo.
MyState Limited was formed in September 2009 following the merger of MyState Financial, an authorised deposit-taking institution, and TPT Wealth, a trustee and wealth management company. On 1 December 2011, MyState Limited acquired The Rock Building Society (The Rock) based in Central Queensland. On October 6, 2014, following authorisation from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), MyState Financial changed its name to MyState Bank (MyState). In February 2025, Auswide Bank became a wholly owned subsidiary of MyState Bank, part of the MYS group. On 1 December 2025, Auswide Bank and SelfCo. became divisions of MyState Bank, operating under the one banking licence.

Operational structure
MyState Limited is the ASX-listed (MYS) non-operating holding company of the diversified financial services group consisting of MyState Bank (including Auswide Bank & Selfco), and TPT Wealth, a trustee and wealth management company. MyState Bank is regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority. MyState Bank and TPT Wealth hold Australian Financial Services Licences issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
The MyState Limited executive management structure shares responsibility for common operational areas across all subsidiaries and was designed to deliver 'one team' efficiencies in areas of shared services while preserving the core elements for marketplace delivery of separate brands.
About the Role
Head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs
The Head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs is responsible for enhancing and protecting the reputation of the MyState Group by educating customers (existing and prospective), communities and key stakeholders about:
What makes us different
How we understand, benefit and protect our customers and clients
How we are making a positive difference in the community
What key stakeholders including government, regulators and investors need to consider when taking decisions
How we understand the economy, and the effect the economy has on households
The Head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs will work across our four brands MyState Limited, MyState Bank, Auswide Bank, TPT Wealth and Selfco to develop story ideas and themes using relevant market and consumer trends, service, products, features, and good news stories to create a narrative aligned to the Group’s growth aspirations and brand vision. Lead the proactive development of long-term relationships with key external stakeholders including media, government, industry, and investors. Build the profile of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer across our geographic footprint in Tasmania and Queensland.
Specific Accountabilities
Raise the profile of the MyState Group by developing story ideas and narratives to attract earned media (editorial) coverage, including preparation of supporting materials and spokesperson briefing and training.
Implement an ongoing plan to raise the profile of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer through community engagement and earned media.
Deliver a strategic engagement framework to proactively manage external stakeholders including media, government and community groups.
Plan for and leverage key corporate activity including; sponsorship and community engagement, above the line brand campaigns and investor focused events such as full year results, half year results, and the Annual General Meeting.
Provide advice and training to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, and the Executive Team on external communications issues and their role in representing the MyState Group in the public arena.
Develop a crisis communication plan and manage communications for issues that have the potential to impact brand or reputation.
Create clear policies and processes for media management, public relations, and communication approvals.
Align with internal communications to ensure consistency and leveraging of internal and external messaging.
Manage external providers, such as agencies.
Liaise with the Australian Banking Association (ABA) and other banks. Advise the Managing Director and CEO, and the Executive on how the Group is represented on industry issues.
Participate in relevant ABA working groups to ensure MyState’s view is represented.
Attend the Regional Banks CEO working groups and liaise directly with the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director on required actions.
Leadership
Be a role model in building a healthy culture aligned to our values and underpinned by customer centricity, accountability, risk awareness and compliance.
Manage the Public Relations budget.
Promote internally the contribution made by the Public Relations Function.
Work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the People, Community and Public Relations Team for MyState.
Development the strategic and operational Public Relations plans for the Group.
Skills and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications/journalism/public relations/or business related discipline.
7 years+ communications experience with extensive knowledge and understanding of communication principles, best practice and emerging trends and technologies
Strategic communications, media and external relations experience.
Ability to influence and advise senior executives on external communication issues, including demonstrated capability in issues and crisis management.
Knowledge of financial, legal, and regulatory frameworks as well as market dynamics and key business drivers.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and consult with stakeholders to create productive working relationships.
Superior planning and organisation skills, with proven experience to deliver complex projects against required time frames.
