A Queensland-based organisation is inviting Expressions of Interest from highly experienced Non-Executive Directors for a paid Board appointment. This opportunity is ideally suited to a senior professional with significant financial expertise who is motivated to contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and long-term impact of a purpose-driven organisation.
With a Board refresh underway, including an upcoming retirement, the organisation is seeking to strengthen its governance capability by appointing a Finance Director who brings deep experience in finance, risk, legal and governance. Experience or a personal commitment to sustainability, environmental outcomes, or circular-economy principles will be highly regarded.
About the Board
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Board consists of independent and member Directors who collectively bring expertise across finance, legal, governance, environmental management, community engagement, and strategic leadership. The Board meets regularly, either in person or via video conference, and each Director contributes to at least one Board Committee.
The expected time commitment is approximately 10 hours per month. This is a remunerated appointment and requires active participation between meetings to support strong governance and oversight.
Essential Attributes
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:
Advanced financial qualifications and experience, including the ability to provide strong oversight of financial reporting, audit, and risk
Expertise across governance, legal, sustainability, circular economy, environmental management or related fields
A solid understanding of Queensland community needs and stakeholder expectations
Prior Board or Committee experience, preferably within complex or regulated environments
Independent thought paired with a collaborative approach to decision-making
Strategic capability, commercial acumen, and a proven record of ethical leadership
Governance credentials (GAICD, GIA or equivalent) or a willingness to obtain them
Residency in Queensland
Additional Requirements
Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder environments
A clear understanding of directors’ duties and contemporary governance standards
Commitment to the required time allocation and ongoing contribution outside of formal meetings
Eligibility to serve as a company director in Australia
Willingness to undergo director eligibility checks, which may include:
ASIC Register of Banned or Disqualified Persons
ACNC List of Disqualified Persons
National Personal Insolvency Index
Criminal history check
