South Bank Corporation operates under the South Bank Corporation Act 1989. Our responsibilities are as follows:

  • Promote, facilitate, carry out and control the development, disposal and management of land and other property within the Corporation area;

  • Achieve an appropriate balance between the Corporation's commercial and non-commercial functions;

  • Ensure the Corporation area complements, rather than duplicates, other public use sites in the inner city Brisbane area;

  • Provide for a diverse range of recreational, cultural and educational pursuits for local, regional and international visitors;

  • Accommodate public events and entertainment that benefit the general community; and

  • Achieve excellence and innovation in the management of open space and park areas.

Event Co-ordinator

Download Position Description

As an Event Co-ordinator at South Bank Corporation, the position will support the Senior Event Planners and Event Producer in the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse range of events within the parklands. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high quality experiences. 

As part of the Destination, Experience and Engagement team, this role will ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with the Corporation’s policies, procedures and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities / Activities

  • Support the Senior Event Planners and Event Producer in coordinating event logistics, scheduling, supplier management, and client support.

  • Assist in developing event concepts that align with the Corporation’s strategic vision and objectives.

  • Coordinate with key internal and/or external stakeholders to prepare event venues, ensuring appropriate setup, styling, signage, and safety measures are in place.

  • Liaise with internal teams (including Marketing, Communications, and Operations) and external clients to ensure clear communication and seamless event delivery.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and partners to ensure collaboration and alignment of goals.

  • Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with the Corporation’s Financial Management Plan and Procurement Policy.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date event documentation, databases, and records ensuring compliance with Corporation standards.

  • Undertake administrative tasks including minute taking, correspondence, and undertaking event tracking systems.

  • Support post-event evaluations by gathering feedback from attendees, sponsors, and stakeholders.

  • Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement to enhance future events and processes.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.

  • Proven experience in event planning and execution (indoor and outdoor events from small to large scale).

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Creatively driven and resourceful with a demonstrated passion for events.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, event logistics and risk mitigation processes.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work and learn as a team member in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment.

  • Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards to contribute to a culture of performance excellence.
