Human Resources Manager

The HR Manager will oversee the HR functions of the organisation, ensuring the effective implementation of HR strategies, policies, and practices. This role involves leading HR initiatives, managing the HR team, and acting as a strategic partner to senior management to align HR objectives with business goals.

Your Accountabilities

As the Human Resources Manager, your accountabilities include:

 Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.

  • Provide strategic guidance on HR-related matters to senior management.

  • Drive initiatives to improve organizational culture, employee engagement, and retention.

HR Policy and Compliance:

  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including NDIS, Child Safety and NIISQ requirements.

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure HR practices meet regulatory requirements.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Oversee the recruitment process, from job posting to onboarding.

  • Develop talent acquisition strategies to attract top talent.

  • Implement talent management programs, including performance appraisals, succession planning, and career development that promote WLS as an employer of choice.

Employee Relations:

  • Foster a positive work environment and promote a culture of open communication.

  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary actions.

  • Conduct investigations and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

  • Train the HR Team to become competent in employment relations.

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • Design and implement competitive remuneration and benefits programs.

  • Conduct salary benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitive pay structures.

  • Oversee benefits administration and ensure employees are informed about available options.

  • Work closely with the Finance Manager for the implementation of salaries and benefits across the Employment Hero platform.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and development programs for management levels to enhance employee skills, knowledge and competency.

  • Implement leadership development programs to build capabilities.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.

Performance Management:

  • Develop and manage performance evaluation systems to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Provide guidance to managers on performance management and improvement plans.

  • Promote a culture of continuous feedback and development.

HR Data and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and data on Employment Hero and SharePoint.

  • Generate and analyse HR metrics and reports to support decision making.

  • Use HR data to identify trends and recommend improvements.

HR Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team.

  • Allocate resources and manage the HR department budget effectively.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing HR team environment demonstrating a culturally inclusive workplace for clients and staff.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Qualifications within Human Resources or Business Management sector.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.

  • Experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.

  • Ongoing professional development in leadership.

  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Maintain a Working with Children Blue Card, and a NDIS Worker Screening check.

  • Current Full Queensland Driver’s License.

What Success Looks Like

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced interpersonal skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, to communicate professionally with people with a disability and their families, work colleagues, management, and members of the community.

  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and use sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure in complex and/or difficult situations.

  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the situation.

  • Personal life experience, interests and hobbies and a willingness to share skills and capabilities with others.

  • Understanding of Disability Services Act 2006, Human Services Quality Framework, and Work Health and Safety Act 2011 or able to quickly acquire understanding and apply to support work duties.

  • Knowledge of Child protection, Human Rights, and Standard of Care.are looking for someone with:

  • Qualifications within Human Resources or Business Management sector.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.

  • Experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.

  • Ongoing professional development in leadership.

  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Maintain a Working with Children Blue Card, and a NDIS Worker Screening check.

  • Current Full Queensland Driver’s License.

Applicants should ideally be based in Toowoomba or have the capacity to travel there 2–3 days per week.
