Organisational Design for a Startup in the Simulation and Emerging Technologies Sector
The Brief:
A startup agency in the simulation and emerging technologies sector, recently engaged Luminary to assist them with an organisational design project. The primary objective of the project was to design and establish an organisational structure that would not only support the company’s initial set up, but also facilitate its growth over the long term. A key component of the project was the creation and recruitment of the CEO role, a foundational position that would pay a crucial role in steering the agency towards its strategic goals.
The Solution:
Given the unique nature of the business and the absence of local benchmarks, our approach was to begin with an analysis of similar sectors to gather insights and practices that could be adapted to our client. Following this, we:
Developed a flexible and scalable organisational structure that supported the agency’s strategic direction
Scoped out the CEO role and identified the key responsibilities, skills and qualities necessary to guide the organisation through its establishment and growth phases
Crafted a comprehensive position description for the CEO role, which served as the foundation for the executive search and recruitment process
Conducted a thorough market analysis to determine a competitive remuneration package for the CEO role.
Secured Board approval for the structure, CEO role and remuneration package, through the development of a detailed Board paper
Conducted the executive search and recruitment process to find the successful candidate for the CEO role.
The Result:
The project culminated in the successful establishment of an organisational structure, tailored to the unique needs of the agency and providing a solid foundation for the agency to grow, innovate and become a leader in its field.
