The Brief:

A local government agency sought to enhance its leadership evaluation processes, specifically focusing on the performance review framework for the CEO. The key objective was to develop a comprehensive and transparent system that would not only evaluate and assess performance effectively, but also align with the strategic goals and values of the agency and foster accountability at the highest level within the organisation.

The Solution:

To address the brief, we developed a CEO performance review framework that included a set of tools and templates to facilitate an effective evaluation process. Along with clear and measurable KPI’s aligned to the organisation’s strategic objectives and values, ensuring a focus on short term performance and long term development.

 We also provided support and guidance to all parties throughout the performance review process, ensuring a smooth, objective and constructive evaluation for the performance year. This included facilitating discussions, helping to bridge any gaps in understanding and expectations between the parties.

Lastly, we developed and implemented a 360 degree feedback survey, enabling a holistic assessment of the CEO from multiple stakeholders, including peers, direct reports and external partners. We analysed the feedback to identify key themes, strengths and areas for improvement, providing a comprehensive view of the CEO’s impact on the organisation and its stakeholders.

As an outcome of the project, the organisation had a documented, robust and transparent CEO performance review framework, complete with the associated tools and templates, tailored KPI’s and measures for the performance year and an action and development plan for the CEO. 

This engagement not only enhanced the performance review process for the CEO, but also set a precedent for structured and transparent leadership evaluation.
